Charlie’s Country
Awarded Best Actor at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, David Gulpilil crowns his career with a mesmerising performance as Charlie. Frustrated with the failures of the government intervention and the ‘whitefella’ laws enforced in his remote community, Charlie takes off to live the old way. But his extraordinary journey leads him full circle, and he returns to his community a wiser man. Through the heartbreaking, humorous and ultimately hopeful story of one man’s search for belonging, Charlie’s Country offers a deeply affecting portrait of contemporary Aboriginal Australia.
